Copywriting - Teasing Your Prospect
The online world is a vast sea of a marketplace. In the new age, whenever someone wants to buy something, the first thing they do is fire up their computers and head over to good 'ol internet explorer to find out more information. The problem is with SO many competitors online, how are you making sure that your sales letter is enticing enough to get read completely and convert into a sale? This is the main struggle that online marketers run into when they are trying to sell a product online. The product could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if you do not market it in the correct way it will go unnoticed.
So the question is, what does a good sales letter come down to? The answer has, and always will be – teasing your prospect. This is the only thing that will keep them reading. A successful sales letter will capture the readers attention early and make them feel that it is imperative they keep reading lest they miss out on any important information. This technique is proven to get more conversions on sales letters by a reasonable margin if done correctly. However, in order to tease your prospects you have to know the mechanics behind it. Teasing in the online marketing world means to give away a little to keep the prospect interested, and reserve the actual 'juicy' details for the product itself.
How do you get started? From top to bottom! Yes, the first thing we are going to work on is the tittle of your sales page. The title is the most crucial piece to success to any sales page. In fact many people leave immediately if the title doesn't capture their attention right away. So lets take a look at an example of a bad title.
“New Foot Fungus Creme”
There are many things wrong with this title. Firstly, it gives away TOO MUCH information for just a title. If you are selling something like a remedy for foot fungus, you are going to want to make it sound a bit more enticing. The way the title is now, the only people that are going to continue reading are the people who currently have foot fungus and are desperate for a cure. If you hype the product up more, you could possibly make some sales from people who may not have foot fungus, but will buy your product just in case or to prevent foot fungus. Lets take a look at a better title.
“Years of Scientific Research Reveal AMAZING Health Product!”
This title would be much more suited for selling foot fungus creme. The firs thing we gather from reading the title is that it has been developed as result of years of scientific research. This is more than likely to make people trust the product because of how extensively it has been tested. Second we find out that it is an “AMAZING” health product. People are always conscience about their health, so most likely they will continue reading to find out what its all about.
Writing sales letters is all about getting the prospect to continue reading. Practice combining different words and phrases that will sound interesting, will pertain to your product, but not give away too much information. If you tease the prospect in the correct manner your sales letter should have a higher chance of converting.
